Bransty Beck [26th Sept 2025], at 18:15 ... It seems the "Siltbuster" is 'broken' and the rusty water is not being filtered. . I reported it to appropriate authorities as I didn't want that running all weekend, by the following morning the beck was back to crystal clear.

TiG - Proteus

Survey vessel "Proteus" has been based in Whitehaven for a little while, the range of "fish" she was towing was quite something ! She was on her way to another task a few days after this was captured. . Quite an interesting vessel, very shallow draft and easy to handle. more info - www.bibbyhydromap.com/vessels/proteus

lighthouse on the tip of the West Pier. There is quite an area of shoals around this pier, which show up during low tide. (Most noticeably at the greater range of the spring tides). Just after this was taken, there was a seriously heavy shower of rain.

Sandstone turret on the New Old Quay at Whitehaven, showing some quite extensive weathering. But having seen some of the recent storms - possibly erosion as well from wave action, despite the height.

Memorial plaque to those who left Whitehaven, never to return - presumably lost to shipwreck. "For those in Peril on the Sea"

This short pier, on the west side of the outer harbour at Whitehaven is known as the "Old New Quay". It has an old coastguard (?) lookout at the outer end and the main building houses the local sea cadets.

The lighthouse on the end of the North Pier, built in 1841. The West Pier light is to the right.
