That crowd of ducks are, I think, the less flamboyant "Cuddy" duck females with a bunch of young chicks [Somateria mollissima]

Not easy to see, but this is a bunch of "cuddy ducks" or St Cuthbert's Ducks as the common Eider Duck [Somateria mollissima] is known in this area. . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_eider
