Avanti West Coast electric unit 390127 runs into Rugby platform 4 with a southbound passenger service. The brick buildings on the left date from the 1885 rebuild when the station had 6 platforms. The splendid Victorian iron & glass roof was sadly demolished in the last rebuild & replaced by these rusting tubular things. The station still has 6 platforms but only one is a bay. New platforms 1 and 5/6 are on the Down and Up sides respectively of the original island. HBM to everyone. Enjoy the start to the new week.

Brilliant sunshine on the platforms of Rugby Midland station as a Virgin Railways Class 390 Pendolino electric multiple unit runs into platform 1 with a train for Birmingham. Trains were badly delayed or cancelled due to a truck striking an under-bridge between Birmingham and Coventry. We took a London Midland Trains emu to Euston which was only 20 minutes late. HBM to everyone. Enjoy the start of a new week.

Another shot from our recent visit to Kenilworth Castle about an hours drive from Leicester. The castle is a very atmospheric set of ruins today but in the Middle Ages up to the mid-17th century it was a very important & impressive palace. The Civil War was its undoing and although it was never attacked the keep was slighted on the orders of Parliament to stop it being used in future. HWW everyone. Enjoy your day..

We visited Kenilworth Castle about an hours drive from Leicester yesterday. It was well worth it. The castle is a very atmospheric set of ruins today but in the Middle Ages up to the mid-17th century it was a very important & impressive palace. The Civil War was its undoing and although it was never attacked the keep was slighted on the orders of Parliament to stop it being used in future. HBM everyone. Enjoy the new week.

What was set up as a pretty boring static shot of DRS Class 57 "Thunderbird" loco 57308 from the station car park was transformed as this Virgin Pendolino appeared at great speed out of nowhere just as I pointed my mobile phone!
