In the distance on the Chalk hillside is the Long Man of Wilmington which was originally thought to be an Iron Age feature but a 2003 archaeological investigation showed that the figure may have been cut in the Early Modern era – the 16th or 17th century AD. The chalk man is best seen Large! HFF to everyone. Have a great weekend.

A telephoto shot looking from Cap Gris-Nez across Wissant Bay northwards to Cap Blanc-Nez. Gris-Nez is the closest point in France to England. Blanc-Nez is an Upper Cretaceous Chalk outcrop (white). Note the piles of chalk on the beach to the left - evidence of the instability in the cliffs
