I offer you a symbolic sign of Spring. To produce such a sweet blossom there is the distinct chance of some painful moments, however . . .
This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 1:4 f=150mm lens with a Kowa L39•3C(UV) filter attached to a 21mm extension tube using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized with Photoshop.

My utmost respect goes out to the mother that laid these and the parents that incubated them. Being a parent can be painful at times . . .

Natural Barrier

A botanical garden without a fence to protect it's rare plants from inquisitive visitors? Upon closer inspection there may indeed be a very effective fence here created by the cacti themselves - in fact, one that does not require a "Trespassing Prohibited" sign. This fellow has quite a sharp wit and has the ability to get under one's skin.

Mummification is "alive and well"
in the cactus world . . .
