Blue for a change

28 Mar 2013 208
Thought I'd better try and get at least one shot out of a beautiful bunch of flowers that I bought maybe a week ago. They died so quickly, before I got round to taking any photos. Loved the curled edges and the gorgeous shade of blue of the Iris flowers. Taken on 25 March 2013.

The perfect coil

Love the way these wild Asters coil their dying petals so perfectly. Photographed at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park on 23 September 2010.

The curl

A gently curled Rose petal. Don't think I'm going to be on Flickr long this evening, as it is SO slow for me (yesterday also). Have to wait every time I click on something, which is really annoying. Went with a friend for a lovely drive this morning, north west of the city, out past Cochrane. We were hoping to see a Great Gray Owl or the Northern Hawk Owl that has been reported in that area. However, we were totally out of luck, apart from seeing a Bald Eagle and four Rough-legged Hawks (too far away for photos). Oh, and Ravens and Magpies, I should add : ) The scenery is so spectacular in that area. And here comes the SNOW - again!!!

Red curls

Not sure what these flowers are, but I was fascinated by the colour and the beautiful, curled petals. These are just two of several flowers in a cluster at the top of a very tall stem. This plant was growing at the Reader Rock Garden just over two weeks ago.

The curl

Took this photo of a Lily petal with my very first digital camera, an Olympus C750UZ point-and-shoot, way back on 3rd August 2007 and was never sure whether it was worth saving, let alone posting on Flickr. Came across it today and decided I'd include it after all.

Unfurled beauty

These coils always fascinate me - so cleverly "designed". They grow right in the centre of the tall leaf stalks and can so easily be missed as one walks by.
