Eye-catcher

14 May 2009 197
Not sure when I took this photo, but it was with my old Olympus C750 UZ camera, when the date wasn't working. Found at Bebo Grove, Fish Creek Park. LOL, at least I got one edge reasonably sharp!

Pastels

23 Mar 2009 297
I took this photo a long time ago, using my old Olympus C750 UZ. The metal door to the battery compartment got bent when I dropped the camera. Consequently, I used to have a thick, purple elastic band wrapped around my camera in an attempt to keep it partly closed. As you can imagine, it hardly looked "professional" and I'm sure many people got a good chuckle over it. However, it took some good photos : ) Sometimes, the door would spring open and then the date was not recorded on the photo. I also had to reset everything in the camera, which was very frustrating. So, I can't remember when or where I took this photo and worst of all, I can't remember what plant it is. Doug, or anyone else, if you happen to see this, would you be able to let me know the ID? Purple Prairie-clover? Might have been a garden plant. Thanks! Later: have managed to track down this photo on my external hard drive. It is Purple Prairie-clover, seen at Votier's Flats, Fish Creek Park on 7th August 2007. Thanks, George - you were right!

Bokeh berries

21 Apr 2009 219
LOL, I thought the title was appropriate, seeing as I didn't really get the berries in focus! Took this image in 2007 and never posted it because it was so blurry. Each time I came across it, though, there was something about the colours that I liked. Note ; don't worry, it's not your eyesight that's at fault, LOL! Oh, these are Saskatoon berries, by the way, seen down in Weaselhead.

Golden Eagle

14 Nov 2008 217
Thought I'd better type a description below this image immediately, just saying that this beautiful Golden Eagle was not photographed in the wild! We saw it down in southern Alberta, near Lethbridge, at the Coaldale Birds of Prey Centre in July 2007. I have seen several Golden Eagles in the wild, but always from a great distance. It was 38C at Coaldale and the birds were so hot.

Seaside Arrow-grass seedpods

This is also known as Arrow-grass, Common Bog Arrow-grass, Goose-tongue, Salt-grass, Saltmarsh Arrowgrass, and Spike-grass. It is an uncommon perennial, native to Alberta. Saw this specimen at Beaverdam Flats Natural Area.

Fritillary

I'm not sure what kind of Fritillary this is.
