Thank you very much :-) SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE 2 NOVEMBER 2019 ANYTHING THAT HAS BEEN RENDERED OBSOLETE BUT STILL BEING USED EVERYDAY BY PEOPLE EVERYWHERE PLEASE VIEW ON BLACK :-) I do download music but then I will still copy the music to a blank cd :-) I can't imagine ever getting rid of my cd collection. I just hope that I will still be able to get blank cd's and that cd players will continue to be manufactured :-) This is one such blank cd where I added music. I photographed the cd and then copied the image a couple of times using Photoshop Elements. I used a couple of interior kitchen lights that gave the coloured lines but the colours didn't really cover the cd to my liking. I then held a torch with one hand and held the camera with my other hand. I found that by moving the torch a little at a time I was, eventually, able to get a lot more colour :-) I was very worried that I might drop the camera and the torch. And, finish up in a heap on the floor!! But, all was well :-)) For 'Sight and Sound' we will have to imagine that one of the tracks on the cd is "Please Remember Me" by Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt. Many moons ago I had the opportunity to buy "Linda Ronstadt - The Box Set" that was released in 1999. For some inexplicable reason I didn't buy it. Probably one reason was that I thought I would already have most of the tracks. Some weeks ago, on YouTube, I came across a version of "Please Remember Me" by Aaron Neville & Linda Ronstadt. This song was written by Rodney Crowell & Will Jennings. It features on Rodney's 1995 album "Jewell of the South". Rodney Crowell is one of my all-time fave singers and "Please Remember Me" is one of my fave songs. I could not believe that I had missed out on Aaron and Linda's marvellous version of the song. I then found out that as well as this track being on Aaron's 1997 album "To Make Me Who I Am" the track was also included in Linda's Box Set. I then found I could buy a second-hand copy of "Linda Ronstadt - The Box Set". I was worried that being second-hand it might have been a bit bashed about. But it arrived in almost mint condition! As well as three cd's of tracks that I already had or ones I was mostly familiar with, it included a cd of Rarities. Most of which were new to me. Explored! Thank you very much :-) SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE 13 OCTOBER 2018 WATER DROPLETS TAKE A PHOTO OF WATER DROPLETS IN ANY FORM, SHOOT MACRO OR OTHERWISE. POST PROCESS AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE. GET CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN! Each time I thought of tackling this week's challenge there wasn't a single drop of rain about!! In desperation I asked Helen to pick up a water spray bottle for me :-) I have been spraying everything in sight but whenever I did get some droplets to form they disappeared just as quickly!! I then tried a blue coloured blank DVD, put it on the windowsill in the sun. Probably was a bit heavy handed with the spray but, at least, I got some droplets :-)) I should have fished out my DSLR but time was getting short so I used the 'Macro' setting on my little P7800 :-) Also, I have added this to 'Sight and Sound' 'cos I've just noticed there is a 'starburst' in a few of the droplets. And, Rodney Crowell recorded "Stars on the Water". In my humble opinion "Making Memories Of Us" is one of Rodney Crowell's finest songs. It features on the album "The Notorious Cherry Bombs". I have read that this song has become a firm favourite at weddings. I didn't go to the wedding here but when some of the guests walked by me I knew I should take a photo :-) So this is my logic for adding this combination to 'Sight and Sound' :-) Also, I had in the back of my mind that Keith Urban sang this song to Nicole Kidman at their wedding. Mind you, I may have completely made this up :-))) I am also including a link to Keith singing the song and I reckon that Keith absolutely 'nails it' !! Previously I have used a very similar shot to this one. That one had quite a few birds flying around :-) This one I am linking, pretty tenuously, to "Song For The Life" written and performed by Rodney Crowell 'cos there is a line in the song that says "For a sound like the sun going down" :-) Somehow I learned how to listen For a sound like the sun going down In the magic that morning is bringing There's a song for the friends I have found To keep my feet on the ground Way back in the 70's we were fortunate enough to see several 'Emmylou Harris & The Hot Band' concerts when Rodney and Albert Lee played in The Hot Band. And, since the 70's we have seen Albert very many times as part of Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes. Many moons ago we did have tickets to see Hal Ketchum but, sadly, the concert was cancelled when Hal was taken ill and was later diagnosed with a very serious illness whereby he lost the use of the left side of his body. There are a couple of kites flying here. Fate's Right Hand" by Rodney Crowell includes the line - "We All Go To Heaven On A Hard Disc Drive" And, this shot is of part of a hard disc drive assembly. So, that is a good enough 'Sight and Sound' link for moi :-))) I am giving two links. With the first link I can't seem to get a decent sound level on my computer when viewing the video via Firefox. With the second link the sound level is much better but the picture quality is disappointing. If I view the first link via the Edge Browser the sound level is much, much better!!
