I am also going to add this to 'Sight and Sound'. The theatre is used for music concerts, lectures and University ceremonies. "Send In the Clowns" was a song written for the musical "A Little Night Music". So I have chosen the version by Judy Collins as an obscure musical link :)

Sheldonian Theatre & Clarendon Building, Oxford.
Extracts from Wikipedia -
"Sheldonian Theatre, located in Oxford, England, was built from 1664 to 1669 after a design by Christopher Wren for the University of Oxford. The building is named after Gilbert Sheldon, Warden of All Souls College and later chancellor of the University. Sheldon was the project's main financial backer. The theatre is used for music concerts, lectures and University ceremonies, but not for drama until 2015 when the Christ Church Dramatic Society staged a production of The Crucible by Arthur Miller."
"The Clarendon Building designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor was built between 1711 and 1715. It was built to house the Oxford University Press. In 1829 the University police took over part of it as their police station with cells in the basement. It only became known as the Clarendon Building after it was adapted by the University for use as a registry in 1832. It continued as the university registry until the present University Offices were opened in Wellington Square in 1975. The Clarendon Building was then taken over by the Bodleian Library."

This is part of the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford. It was the first major commission for Christopher Wren. It is not a Theatre in the true sense of the word. No plays or theatrical performances are held here. It is more used for University Ceremonies and University concerts. There are occasions when you can visit inside and I have done this on a few occasions. But, so far, I don't think I have captured the beauty of the interior. I will undoubtedly try again this year :-)

My photo is of the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford.
Turning to 'Sight & Sound' my link will take a little bit of explaining. The Sheldonian Theatre is mostly used for university ceremonies and concerts. So, an obscure 'concert' link would be "Guadalupe" (written by Tom Russell) played by Gretchen Peters and husband Barry Walsh at a concert....somewhere...But, not at the Sheldonian! Recently I was very fortunate to see Gretchen at The Stables, Wavendon on her farewell UK Tour.

This was a candid shot taken at one of the recent Oxford University Graduation ceremonies. I'm not sure if the lady might have been about to shed a little tear but, anyway, it seems like a good idea to me to link this to "Smile" by Nat King Cole :-)
It says that this song was written by Charlie Chaplin. I did not know this :-)
Looking at Wikipedia it says -
"Smile" is a song based on an instrumental theme used in the soundtrack for the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times. Charlie Chaplin composed the music, while John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics and title in 1954".
