Happy Fence Friday, All.
I have re-worked this very, very, very old photo :-)) It is the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford and there really is a fence surrounding the grass :-)) The photo was taken from near the top of the University Church.
On the left is part of Brasenose College. And, also on the left towards the background is part of the Bodleian Library and the top of the Sheldonian Theatre.
I have also decided upon a very obscure link for Sight & Sound. In the context of the The Radcliffe Camera, 'Camera' means "Reading Room". But for the purposes of 'Sight and Sound' a 'Camera' is for taking photographs. I have, therefore, chosen "Take A Picture of This" by Don Henley :-))

Part of Radcliffe Camera and in the background, part of All Souls College, Oxford.
The Radcliffe Camera ("The Camera" from the Latin, camera, meaning 'room') It was designed by James Gibbs in a Baroque style and built in 1737-1749 to house the Radcliffe Science Library. The library's construction and maintenance was funded from the estate of John Radcliffe, a physician who left £40,000 upon his death in 1714.
From 'Oxford History' -
All Souls College was founded jointly by Henry Chichele, Archbishop of Canterbury, and King Henry VI. It was built between 1437/8 and 1443, and was the ninth Oxford college. Originally its Fellows were obliged to take Holy Orders and to engage in further studies after spending three years in the University. They were also expected to pray for the souls of the faithful departed and those killed in the French wars – hence its name.
I don't know much, if anything, about Joe Dolan. But he recorded "Lady in Blue" so I have decided to use this for 'Sight and Sound' :-) Quite a strident (forceful) recording methinks :-))

From Wikipedia -
"The Radcliffe Camera (colloquially known as the "Rad Cam" or "The Camera"; from Latin camera, meaning 'room') is a building of the University of Oxford, England, designed by James Gibbs in a Baroque style and built in 1737–49 to house the Radcliffe Science Library."
The Radclffe Camera also serves as a reading room for the Bodleian Library.
I figure the lady is on the way to use the reading room so I have also added this to 'Sight and Sound' and chosen "Read My Mind" by Gordon Lightfoot :-)

The Radcliffe Camera was designed by James Gibbs and built 1737–1749 to house the Radcliffe Science Library. The Radcliffe Camera is not open to the public. The library's construction and maintenance was funded from the estate of John Radcliffe, a physician who left £40,000 upon his death in 1714. Construction only began in 1737, although the intervening period saw a complicated purchase of the site. The exterior was complete in 1747 and the interior finished by 1748. The library officially opened on 13 April 1749. Today the Radcliffe Camera is used as the main Reading Room for the Bodleian Library.
From Latin 'Camera' means 'Room'. Therefore, for 'Sight and Sound' my slightly obscure link is to "In My Room" by Linda Ronstadt.

Another one of my obscure 'Library' links......the building on the left is the Radcliffe Camera that is part of the Bodleian Library. 10 & 11 September 2016 was "Open Doors" weekend in Oxford when you could visit places not normally open to the public.
Whenever I visited Oxford, Brasenose College was always closed to visitors and the only photos I managed to take were looking thru' the entrance. However, on 11 September the College was open as part of "Open Doors". I knew no-one would stop me 'breaking on through to the other side' of the entrance to take this photo of the Quadrangle with the Radcliffe Camera in the background :-)
