A First Communion tintype showing the commonly added pink cheeks and the less commonly added gold touches. (More easily seen in the largest image.) Her brooch, prayer book, and (strangely) her left ring finger have all been daubed with a tiny amount of gold. I would guess that this was probably taken in the 1890s but there's no way that I know of to date it exactly. Found in a Vintage Store on a visit to Connecticut, 2023.

Brought forward for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: Canes, Batons, Spears, etc. Somewhere in my house is a snapshot of a majorette with a baton, but I searched fruitlessly - so here's my already posted photo. (And a terrible scan. I'll re-do someday.) This is a cabinet card from my collection of Vintage First Communion photos. The young girl is holding an elaborate candle holder as part of her costume. In the other hand she is holding a book - probably a bible. There's something about this that looks Scandinavian but that's certainly only an impression. I purchased this in Maine years ago, in an antique store. On the back the print says: Ad. Esselborn Successor to H. Meez Photographer 183 Essex Street Corner Houston Street New York

Photo found in Vermont. I've guessed that this is between 1918 and 1925 - nearer to 1920. I love her gentle smile. Russo Studio 8 Prince St. Boston, Mass.
