After spending almost a week in Sunderland, the KM Weipa departed Sunderland this evening with the listed destination being Oran in Algeria. Three tugs, the Roseberry Cross, Svitzer Jubilee and Fiery Cross, were present to help the ship out of port. The River Wear is only a little over 200 metres wide at this point, so the KM Weipa (length: 199 metres) must be about the maximum size for a ship to turn at this point.
