Baltic Explorer

02 May 2024 113
An overnight arrival all the way from the Port of Newcastle, the survey vessel 'Baltic Explorer' is berthed at Greenwells Quay. The ship has an interesting history having apparently served for the French Ministry of Defence for a decade prior to its acquisition by the Garant Group. In the afternoon, the ship departed from Greenwells Quay and moved the short distance upstream on the River wear to Corporation Quay (PIP #1).

Humber Guardian

16 May 2023 98
The Humber Guardian on one of its regular visits to Sunderland and the River Wear. As far as I can gather from limited information online, the ship is used by the Environment Agency to survey tidal levels in the rivers. As far as I can tell, the ship goes some distance upriver on the Wear when it visits, but the AIS feed cuts out at Wearmouth bridge unfortunately. PIP #1: Head on view of the Humber Guardian arriving in to Sunderland.
