Knaresborough Castle is an ancient monument that is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster and maintained by us.
The grounds are open as a public park all year round.
The castle stands on top of a high cliff and has dramatic views across to the viaduct and the River Nidd. The grassed areas are enhanced with mature trees and flowerbeds.

Knaresborough is full of surprises, a warren of medieval streets and stone staircases that weave their way up and down. The town centre is perched on the cliffs above the River Nidd and the imposing railway viaduct across the Nidd Gorge offers an amazing view to visitors as they arrive by train.
