Basset Cove from Crane Islands at low tide.

Basset Cove lies between Porthcadjack Cove and Greenbank Cove. I have walked along here often but rarely descended to it or ascended from it even though there is a car park and a (steep) access point to the beach.

Calm sea with very gentle ripples. See the vertical tin mine shaft on the cliff face. Coastal erosion has exposed it. Its construction probably caused a fault line in the rock which, I hazard a guess here, hastened the erosion!

St Ives Harbour from Smeaton's Pier. Low tide.

Another view of this far southwest corner of Cornwall, granite in the foreground, Land's End in the far distance. In the middle distance at the left, The Cot Valley running into the sea, once very heavily industrialised (tin mines). Low tide.

Greenbank Cove

Seen here, Greenbank Cove (deserted as usual, I often have it all to myself!), Crane Islands, and Porthcadjack in the distance with Samphire and Asparagus Islands. My favourite low-tide shore-line walk and rock hop follows this coast. It only takes 1.5 hours to do which is just as well as you don't have much longer before the tides turns!

Sunny Corner

Sunny Corner is a short stretch of the Truro River which is navigable as far as the City of Truro, seen in the distance.

Rock pool, clear water, Basset Cove.

Basset Cove, North Cliffs, Cornwall. Lots of seaweed making rock-hopping a dangerous pastime. I treaded very gingerly and got past here eventually without mishap.
