This is Fireweed, Chamerion angustifolium, photographed in the area of Maroon Lake in the Colorado Rockies last summer.

This was taken on the trail to Lake Ann, but a different Lake Ann than in the previous photo. That lake is off the North Cascades Highway and borders North Cascades National Park. This lake is near Mount Baker and is reached from a trailhead off the Mount Baker Highway. I hiked there a few weeks ago with brother Tim who has posted a similar photo. www.ipernity.com/doc/timhanko/39346112

The purple flowers in this picture are Fireweed or Rosebay Willowherb (Epilobium angustifolium), photographed on a beautiful August morning in the North Cascades.
