Mackinac Bridge at Night

After driving up to the Straits of Mackinac, the water that separates Lake Michigan from Lake Huron and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from the Lower Peninsula, and after taking photos of the bridge from a park at the south end of the bridge, we crossed the bridge to the city of St. Ignace on the Upper Peninsula and after our evening meal went back to the bridge for more photos. These were all taken from St. Ignace, except the last which was taken out of the window as we crossed the bridge. The insets are of:
1) Mackinac Bridge at sunset.
2) the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island from St. Ignace.
3) sunset from Mackinac Bridge.

Not from from Mackinac Bridge (a bit to the east) is Mackinac Island, a popular tourist destination. This is a photo of the island taken from the city of St. Ignace on the Upper Peninsula. The lighted building is the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

This was the sunset from Mackinac Bridge as we crossed it from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace. It was the only photo I managed to get from the bridge and that because I wasn't driving.

I am interrupting my tour of Yellowstone National Park to post some photos from our recent trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We left on a Tuesday afternoon and drove up to the Straits of Mackinac and stopped on the south side of the bridge at the park there to photograph the bridge before driving over the bridge to the Upper Peninsula where we found lodgings for the night. The Mackinac Bridge is a five mile suspension bridge over the Straits of Mackinac that connects Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas.

This photo was taken from a park at the south end of the Mackinac Bridge. That bridge, a five mile suspension bridge, spans the Straits of Mackinac and connects Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas.
