Slough , the surface horny layer of snake skin, which they shed several times during the year - they change clothes. When changing, the horny layer on the lips is torn, and then the snake, crawling between the branches or stones, is pulled out of the so-called shirts. I find this snake shell every year in the fall outside the door of my cottage.
