Il Santuario di Crego, piccola frazione di Premia, in Valle Antigorio, è un vero gioiello architettonico: percorrere il peristilio esterno, tra le quarantotto colonne quadrate in pietra lavorata a mano regala emozioni e suggestioni uniche. La piccola chiesa è dedicata a Don Lorenzo Dresco, prete scalpellino (chiamato così per la sua maestria nel lavorare la pietra) che la edificò tra il 1852 e il 1878. Di particolare bellezza è il colonnato esterno in pietra che circonda la struttura: Don Lorenzo lo realizzò in una seconda fase per arricchire la struttura originaria della chiesa. Al suo interno gli altari sono dedicati alla Madonna dei Sette Dolori, alla Madonna del Carmine e alla Vergine Immacolata. È di certo la visione d’insieme del Santuario di Crego, però, ad affascinare, grazie ad una struttura unica in tutta la Val d’Ossola, realizzata su una terrazza naturale che regala un panorama mozzafiato sull’intera Valle Antigorio. ----------------------------------------. The Sanctuary of Crego, a small hamlet of Premia, in the Antigorio Valley, is a true architectural jewel: walking through the external peristyle, among the forty-eight square columns made of hand-worked stone, offers unique emotions and suggestions. The small church is dedicated to Don Lorenzo Dresco, a stonemason priest (so called because of his mastery in working stone) who built it between 1852 and 1878. Of particular beauty is the external stone colonnade that surrounds the structure: Don Lorenzo built it in a second phase to enrich the original structure of the church. Inside, the altars are dedicated to Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Immaculate Virgin. It is certainly the overall view of the Sanctuary of Crego, however, that fascinates, thanks to a unique structure in the entire Ossola Valley, built on a natural terrace that offers a breathtaking panorama of the entire Antigorio Valley..
