Hello Laura and all,

For Parisians, there are places that are a bit privileged, away from the city's bustle, that allow you to be outside home, in the city, without being in the crowd. Every city, of course, has such places. When I lived in the French capital, I used to fill this need by walking through, among other locations, the Parisian covered Passages. There are dozens of them, all different, popular and commercial or witnesses of a disappeared, moribund or sometimes still maintained bourgeois pomp.
On this 19th of August, even though I have not lived in Paris for 15 years, I wanted to take this cross-country route again, which, in addition, led me to introduce many people to one or more places little-known although they are full of historical, architectural and graphical interest.
And finally, this successful experience gave me the idea of starting a series. I noticed that these Parisian passages are little or poorly 'covered' by the Ipernitian insight. Perhaps because their lovers want to keep them secret, to reserve them for themselves since they remain havens a little apart ?!
So I ask you, my friends: contemplate my photos and the others you will find on this subject; document yourself, project yourself, but please don't rush there, especially not all at once, to preserve the so particular and privileged character of our dear Parisian covered passageways ;-)

Thank you again, Laura and all, for making this group alive, which gives us the opportunity to expose, discover and share our experiences and subjects of interest so diverse and sometimes intimate.

Changes in cities are always hard to navigate. While we don't want cities to be museums, we want them to be living vibrant places, we also want to cherish what is wonderful about them and keep those things protected but used and loved. Quite a difficult dance!

I often think about what it is about my city that is its defining experience or location. Would someone recognize that my photo is taken in Portland without an obvious sign showing in the photograph.

Thank you, Eric, for participating and contemplating our photographic world on our special day.
