Heidiho club has replied to uwschu clubHatte in der Gruppe (>>Berlin von oben<<) schon paar erste Gedanken hinterlassen.

AHH, hab dich jetzt gefunden.
...and here the shit hits the fan again. That is really ahard blow to all of us after we have settled in so nicely. Let's find out what needs to be done to save the community. Actually there are not many alternatives left. Tomas' Excel sheet might be helpful before we all investigate on our own.
If we want the geotagging option, flickr (which I really do not like very much) may be the last resort.
I need to let it sink in for a while...
cheers Lutz

Aber was sonst?
It is clear that the leaders of Ipernity have drawn a line and it is useless to seek solutions to save Iper by leaving it in their hands. "Who knows a company interested in taking over Ipernity?" : they ask the question and this seems to be the only and last solution that can save it.
But I put another solution on the table, shortly discussed in the debate in the thread of the announce: how many members of Ipernity would be willing to invest in this site to regain control on it? In the form of an association, for example. Certainly, a lot !! People who have time (retired persons or other) or wish to be hired here could take care of the management, administration, hiring of programmers etc. No profit or enrichment would be searched. Just continue this unique and marvellous experience - just like Pano that we already lost :(
I ask this question here and there to try it making its way in minds. To try to stop this succession of arbitrary decisions (seemingly frequent) that put "on the street" thousands of members having linked such beautiful friendships.
On my side I was ready to pay more than demanded to enter in Ip Club if this could save it (I had even no time to do it...). I'm now ready invest even more to save Ip.

@ Ipernity Team:
After I have slept on it (rather badly) I am even more confused with a truckload of questions. The most important of all, why not offering an option?
If a perfectly good product does not generate enough revenue to cover the cost the first thing to do would be to raise the price. The second thing for me would be to repackage the product, i.e.:
Free accounts for 6 months max. with 200 pics but otherwise full functionality to show the capability of the product. After 6 months a grace period of one month to recover the account otherwise the account will be terminated. Get rid of all the folks who are just looking for a free ride, they are only jamming your server and consuming bandwidth.
Ipernity must have a rather constant burn rate, so it should be easy to establish the break even and the right price per month / year, considering a certain dropout percentage because of the raised price. I am perfectly willing to pay 50€ or 60€ per year without even thinking about it. And I guess most of the club members will go along. Please do us a favor and look into your business plan again and give us a number to think about, before you are shutting down for good.
What about crowdfunding, all things considered? Or is there another problem, like patents or IPR infringement?
Yes, I know, there are always odds and ends, but if you try, you may lose. If you don’t you have already lost!

What you want to do is not impossible (as it was for Pano) but difficult anyway. You would need some expert eyes to analyse their P&L and balance sheets and do all the number crunching necessary. And some smart lawyers as well to set up the "operating entity" and to support the due diligence. Two months are far too short in my experience with acquisitions and mergers. Nevertheless I like the idea!
Greets Lutz
PS: It might be crazy if we pay 50 bucks in the future for a crappy flickr pro, because I would love to pay that here instead :-/
Eric Desjours club has replied to LutzP clubI just posted an answer to your post in the team blog. I now read you personal answer.
I agree with you: 2 months are really short to take control of a company and to perform all what you list.
What about transforming its statutes into an association, in the "French sense", that is to say: equipped with a minimum structure and a non-profit-making aim? I don't know about the feasibility ot his kind of reconversion; and you and your experience (as well as that of other members) can inform and lead us.
I repeat here my advice: all these suggestions should ideally be gathered in one place, so that most of members, expert and not expert, can share and - maybe - converge to a quick solution (a way not to have any regret...). That's what we, Christine and I, want to propose through a new group, soon available.
On my side, coming from Pano, I can't bring myself to migrate again as long as all the outcomes will not have been explored, and not made null and void...
Salutations, Eric
