A lovely specimen , the big country mansions here used to grow them they were a sign of wealth they used hot beds for warmth, stone pineapples were also a sign of wealth

Interesting… here they are sold for peanuts in garden centers, even in supermarkets!

A great little pineapple and it's interesting that they grow in your area, Isabelle.

It looks very beautiful in this image Isabel............but whether it is edible or not will be discovered if and when you cut it open and try it :-))

Following on from what Peter said (above:):

In England in the 18th century, pineapples were often the centrepiece of table displays, and people who could not afford them used to rent them for dinner parties etc and give them back afterwards. Because of its value and rarity, the pineapple was often see in art and in architecture.

I think it needs only to ripen a bit more. It already looks delicious!
