I keep the nikon with the 300 for birdwatch or some “special effects”. I really love it but too heavy to carry on a daily basis.
Keith Burton club has replied to Xata clubI have an Olympus 100-400mm Zoom lens, but like you I only carry it on a day when I'm sure I'll need it, which is rarely nowadays. I used to use the Nikon 300mm and it's a superb lens.
