The long lens serves that kind of purposes... but too heavy to carry along now, so I give it less and less use...

Same here..........I usually carry a 40-150mm lens nowadays with a 1.4 converter, which is much lighter. I only take my 100-400mm if I'm going by car and won't be doing much walking :-)

This nest has been there since a few years, they come back every year to put their eggs on, first early Spring and next in June, so we have twice a year the hatching show!
