oh it looks cruel !
I didn't know what Herpestes looked like and searched the internet. then I found the answer at WiKi, I think.
So it is probably an 'Ichneumon' (Herpestes ichneumon), because they live in southern Spain and Portugal.

In ancient Egypt the Ichneumon was revered as a sacred animal (in French it is called rat des pharaons, "Pharaoh's rat") and can be found in numerous frescoes and reliefs.

Thanks for all these interesting infos, I didnt know about the Egyptians. Here we have maybe too many of them, nature seems unbalanced since ecologists started to protect this or that, they thought they were doing well but the result is no good and some species are disappearing therefore. Nature has its laws that humans don't always understand.

That would be an option as we have eagles here, but eagles take preys to their nesting sites usually they don’t drop once they catch.
