No problem, Isabel. I admire your ability to speak more than one language. I can only speak English.

Sometimes langage subject pisses me off... specially with some persons, not really with the written English because I am used to "Globish" so it hurts me less, but always here with tourists.
Portuguese is the 6th more spoken langage in the world... we Portuguese are travellers since centuries, we discovered half of the world and even today have the ability to speak other langages quite easily.
My second langage is Spanish as I have Sp origins... but they speak Spanish only, sometimes a bit English but no Portuguese!
Most tourists knowing that don't even try to say one polite word in Portuguese before speaking their own langage... I always say: you tell me one word in my langage as Bom dia to say Hello or Por favor to say Please and Obrigada/o to say Thanks or you don't get anything from me.
And when we travel we have to speak English or French or whatever to be considered...
Even when I go to countries I don't have a clue about their langage I always learn to say 3 words: Hello, Please and Thank you... that is not very hard... and it opens doors and smiles.
Here on ipernity with Germans there generally is no problem corresponding in English, but more delicate with the French. I speak fluent French too but nevertheless answering in my langage feels good and there is a translator integrated here...for who really wants to understand!

I love that on ipernity, there are these "translate" links and people with different languages can converse so easily. I am thankful for people like yourself who take beautiful pictures in different areas of the world, I can see things I would not ordinarily see, and learn from different viewpoints.

Especially now, when so much of the world is so closed off, this is a treasure.

That is why ipernity is a photo SHARING! Not always easy to be understood but with a translator, humility and tolerance...

Wow, that must be so frustrating. Since being on Ipernity I have learned to say a few words in several languages that people use here. I feel it is the least that I can do to be polite. I'm so glad to hear you say that it means a lot to you when people do this. You have taught me "Olá," "Obrigado, and now you have just taught me "Por favor." So I say, Obrigado to you for that! :)

Obrigada Gudrun, I had those tiles and had to place them, so as I bought the area before construction my appartment is different from all others in the building: I designed the interior in open space with an architect. I have two floors.
