Addressed to Miss Macrae, 12 Goldington Avenue, Goldington, England, with a Summerland, B.C. postmark that appears to be from 1923.

Posted October 7, 1906 to Mrs. H. Lenton, Field Head, Chidswell, Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England. "Parliament buildings here are just fine...." Photo attributed to C. H. Thorburn on front, but otherwise there are no identifying marks.

Montreal Import Co. card no. 902, posted at Faversham (Eng.) on August 4, 1911 to Mrs. A. Rowden, 67 Charles St., Gillingham: "Dear Aunt, I shall start from here by the 25 minutes to 3 train. I shall be about half an hour running up. I think that is the one you mean. With Love, Linda."

Stedman (Brantford and Winnipeg) card no. S B 4945 (recorded by Smith), not postally used but with the message: "17.12.12 Dear Lizzie, This is to wish thee many happy returns of thy birthday. We are always pleased to hear any news of you thro' the Fritchley Chronicle. It would be nice to see you all again. With much love, Thy friend, M. ? Wallace" Fritchley is a village in Derbyshire.

A new example in Russell, Lang & Co.'s "Beautiful Manitoba Series" -- this shows the YMCA Building at Portage and Smith, which shortly thereafter was purchased by Birks Jewellers and extensively altered to become their Winnipeg store. The Birks Building remains in this location in almost unchanged form 100 years later. While the c. 1912 renovation from YMCA (above) to Birks made major changes to the exterior of the building, the window pattern is mostly recognizable and one of the peaked towers (the one around the side) was retained. In this version, the central window on the uppermost floor (which window was removed during the renovation) has the name "Young Men's Christian Association" carved around the semi-circular arch that encloses it. The letter, addressed to "Miss Gilbert, Coventry Road, Hinckley, England", has a Fort William & Winnipeg RPO cancel. It reads: "6/7/04 Dear Minnie, Altho I am here in Winnipeg, I can make no advance in seeing George. I have been to the Emirgration office + the C. P. Railway but they are much too busy to answer inquiries -- they are swarmed with new arrivals. This is a most wonderful town, better laid out than any I have ever seen + with better warehouses + business places than anything in England. Streets 44 + 60 feet wide - avenues of trees - Beautiful lawn mown grass 10 feet wide in the centre + on either side between the roadway + causeway. It is marvellous. Both well. Hope you all are. Frank."

Mailed in England, postmarked November 14, 1905 with a brief message for Miss E. Challance, 57 High St., Lincoln.

Barrowclough card "taken for Wilson" (as the Morden cards all are) -- addressed to Miss Flo Morehen, 6 Oak Villas, Archway Road, Highgate, London. Undivided back postmarked November 21, 1905. Squared circle "Morden, Man." cancel.

Number 15 in this Russell, Lang & Co. series. Dated Jan. 4, 1906 and mailed to Miss Sawdy, The Manse, Nayland, Colchester (Essex) England.

Nice Illustrated Post Card Co. (Montreal) image of Ottawa. Posted there on May 16, 1906 to Mr. A. Nunn, 45 Hargurgne St., Brixton, London, S.W., England. That is Parliament Hill and in particular the West Block of Parliament (with a bit of the Centre Block -- destroyed by fire a decade later -- in the left foreground).

Reverse with the Hartmann back.

Warwick Bros. & Rutter card no. 170, undivided back, with message: "Dear Dais, Just a veiw [sic] of the Canadian thresher men don't they look a busy set they [come?] about for a day hope you are quite well. Len." Addressed to Mrs S. Minter, Sweffling, Saxmundham.

Posted somewhere in Ontario in 1907 to Miss L. Sevett, c/o Miss Collins, Capliegh, Cross-in-Hand, Sussex, England, without a message. No indication of publisher. Here we get a good view of part of the pre-1912 Bankers' Row, with the Bank of Commerce, Bank of Nova Scotia, Merchants Bank, Eastern Townships Bank and Bank of Ottawa among the seven buildings shown.

Published by The Stanfield-Smith Co. Limited of Truro. The Stanfield name is now associated with their underwear factory that is still in operation in Truro, and also with the Hon. Robert Stanfield, who came within a few votes of becoming Prime Minister of Canada in 1972. The card was posted on Octover 16, 1908 as part of a postcard exchange. It sees to have a 1d. postage due stamp on it as it was franked with a 1c stamp only (to Mr. Claude F. Scothon, 55 Windsor Street, Nottingham, England): "Would you kindly send me some views of Nottingham and if you wish it I will send more of Truro. Address Eva M. Purcell, P.). Box 517 Truro, N.S., Colchester Co., Canada."

Posted Brigstock, Thrapston May 23, 1916 to Mrs. T. Slater, Bythorn, Huntingdon with a brief message from Beckie. S. B. 4481 (Stedman Bros.). This number is listed in Smith, p. 48, as "Farm Scene, Stratford, Ont."

Postmarked January 1958 at Sutton, Surrey to Mrs. Stubbs, 24 New Barns Avenue, Common Side East, Mitcham, Surrey, with a letter to a friend asking for old Christmas cards for a missionary project.

Illustrated Post Card Co. card with a New Erin, Que. split-ring cancel from October 8, 1906. Posted to Mr. J. N. Precious, 278 Wightman Rd, Hornsey, London, N., England. From Sunny "Jim".

Another in the "Typical Girl" series, posted at Moose Jaw on September 8, 1907 to Miss Ruby Adam, 112 Park Road, Peterborough, England: "My Dear Ruby, I am sending you a few Post Cards for your album. Uncle Stewart". This card is not recorded by Smith, who has only a Post Office from Moose Jaw in this Atkinson Brothers series.
