Looking East on Railway Ave. Frobisher

Frobisher is a village of 145 (2006) in southern Saskatchewan between Oxbow and Estevan. It is found on Highway 18. This postcard was mailed on August 25, 1910 at Hirsch, SK to Miss Annie Duff,, Gassfield P. O., Ont. with the message" Hirsh Sask. August 28, 1910 Sent you a card a few weeks ago hope you will let us hear from you soon, with best regards L.K." The card is numbered "8" (in a Frobisher series, presumably) and is almost certainly the work of Winnipeg Photo Co. of Napinka. It has an unusual "Canada Post Card" undivided back.

Manitoba Government Telephone Building, Winnipeg, Man.

Valentine & Sons 105,183, showing the Telephone Building on Cumberland Avenue (I believe it is). Card mailed January 22, 1910 to Miss Fay Winslow, Chelsea Green P.O., London, Ontario. "London" is written in a rather low-slung hand that made it look a lot like "Windsor", where in fact the card was sent, as indicated by the Windsor receiver. There is a very faint stamp next to this showing a hand with a finger pointing at the Windsor receiver. Inscribed in the hand is the word "Missent" and next to it is some sort of text that starts with "Please ..." It is too faint to make out. I've never seen this "hand" stamp before.

Toronto from Parliament Buildings

August 15, 1910 postmark at Toronto. A rather bitter letter: "228 Simcoe St., Toronto, Not., Aug. 15/10 Dear Mother, Many thanks for welcome letter and papers, got back to the city last night, the firm's advertising end has gone up and am without a job for a while. It is cursed hard luck for me anyhow, four of us got sacked at a moment's notice without any warning that is how they do things here in this country. Love to you all from your aff'te son Joe. Will write later, Joe." This was addressed to Mrs. Train, 76 Cecile Park, Crouch Hill, London N. England. Valentine & Sons card no. 100,500.

[Dam construction, Minnedosa, Man.]

Message is dated October 7, 1910 and the card was mailed at Minnedosa. Addressee was Miss Grace I. Peters, 216 N. Marks St., Ft. William, Ontario. Part of the message reads: "This card is a picture of the work going on at 'dam' sight. Quite a change from the quiet walk through the bushes. Keep it." The dam on the Little Saskatchewan River created Lake Minnedosa, initially a hydro reservoir but since the 1930s used for recreation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnedosa_Lake
