The sea in front of Helsinki is slowly getting a cover of ice, thick enough for the seaguls, but not yet for people to walk on. On the background the huge ferries going to Stockholm.

It starts to freeze more and more, about -15 in the morning, it is nice to walk outside and feel the coldness. Slowly ice starts to appear on the water.

For the first time this winter I had to clear the snow, so little still that I could do it with the broom. More light feels so nice and even a little bit of coldness. Maybe the real winter is starting after all.

Whenever I have the chance I will buy food from the market, especially fish and vegetables. It is past 9 AM and still dark, this day is the shortest day of the year, about 5 hours in Helsinki.

Our first snow staying longer time. A little to the north it has snowed much more. We are living close to the the sea, which has not frozen yet. It is more damp as long the sea is open. Snow reflects more light and it feels nice after a dark time. The picture is from our front garden.
