Athen - Akropolis: Das Erychtheion
Einer der beeindruckendsten Tempel auf dem Akropolis-Hügel in Athen ist das Erychtheion. Erbaut wurde es zwischen 420 und 406 v. Chr. Die Damen, die man auf der Südseite ( rechts im Bild ) sieht und die, statt der üblichen Säulen, die Vorhalle tragen, sind die Karyatiden. Sechs Mädchengestalten ( Koren ), die allerdings nicht mehr im Original dort stehen: der legendäre Antikensammler und -räuber Lord Elgin verbrachte eine von ihnen 1811 nach London und verscheuerte sie ans British Museum. Wie vieles mehr vom Tempelberg. Die restlichen 5 wurden Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts ins Nationalmuseum Athen verbracht. Die miserable Luftqualität der griechischen Haupstadt ließen nicht nur sie langsam aber sicher zerbröseln. Wens interessiert: zwei deutsche Photographen, Herbert List und Walter Hege, haben in zwanziger/dreißiger Jahren fantastische Aufnahmen der Akropolis gemacht. Walter Hege empfehle ich ausdrücklich nur als Photographen. Seine Rolle im Faschismus ist - gelinde gesagt - sehr umstritten.
