In the red, desert heart of my land…the awe inspiring Kings Canyon ( Watarrka National Park) up which we climbed and hiked last year on a 38C day.
It is literally hundreds of kilometres from anything…except more desert!

Un vrai plaisir pour les yeux ce magnifique paysage féerique à croire que je suis à la porte du désert Algérien a l'entrée du Sahara.
Bonne et heureuse journée dominicale.

Did you fly in or is there a road (track) to this place?

We drove..last year, as part of a 12,000km journey in North and North East Australia. There are roads into here….we took one 4WD red dirt road which nearly shook us to pieces for 150km but went out the other wAy to Uluru on a bitumen road.

Just the opposite of where you are now, Diana, both in appearance and climate. A great shot and it's too long since I was up that way. Big hugggsss xx

A must see on full screen Diana - this is so dramatic. I love the red rock against the blue sky.
That sounds like quite a hike in the heat - I will quit my crying about the temperatures here at the moment!!!

Have a great evening

These colours are so dramatic, Diana. I don't know how you could have coped with temperatures of 38C while hiking and climbing. We had temperatures as high as 33C last week, and the only way for me to cope was to stay in the north facing kitchen standing with bare feet on a cool quarry tile floor. Not the best conditions for a red-headed (well once upon a time) and freckled Scot. ;-)))

An amazing looking place.............I love the contrast between the red rocks and the blue sky. I'm impressed that you climbed it, especially in that heat!

nothing sums up this great land better than this photo, the barren, the vastness, the dry and endless sky above all else the unceasing sun light.

Hi Diana
I like this picture very much!
It is a very different and exciting composition, which says a lot to me about Australia!
Fantastic colours too, (plus admiration for doing it in 38 degrees!)
