Aurora australis visit

Aurora australis visit
It's very unusual to see an aurora where I live, in fact I've never before seen an aurora from the Australian mainland . Three things are needed: a clear sky, a dark night without light pollution or a full moon, and strong activity from the sun. Last night it all came together. Not only was the red upper light visible but the lower green also began to appear on the horizon. Two images, the first with my standard 50mm lens (PiP), then I realised I needed to go wider and pulled out the 14mm Samyang. One to view large on black.

Hi George
I like this picture very much!
It is a very different and exciting composition
Fantastic colours too.
I was hoping for 'Northern lights' in England, but, as always it was cloudy and raining. I will say that I have never seen from the ground, but I did from an airplane flight to America many many years ago. So, thank you very much for sharing, and a great clue for camera settings,
Best Wishes, and stay safe!!

Thank you for your kind comment, Peter. The other camera setting, which doesn't show here, is the aperture of F4.
