So happy to see a moon contribution to our celebration group! And so well done. You must use a tri-pod with a 400mm lens, yes? I'm surprised to see a 1/400 exposure time with ISO 200 - I suppose the moon is brighter than one thinks. I've never had a long enough lens to get such an image.

The moon is very appealing to me, what draws you to photograph it? Do you often do long lens images?

Thanks for the kind comments, Laura. The thing to remember with images showing moon surface detail is that the amount of sunlight there is essentially the same as here, unlike taking photos of stars where the amount of light is very small. So this was done hand held, using the camera's in-built stabiliser and, from memory at f8. I must admit the long lens only comes out for special purposes such as this shot or bird photos.

That's fascinating, I suppose I knew that about the light of the moon, but hadn't thought about it. I'll have to consider that the next time I make an attempt of any kind with the moon. I may have a slightly long lens somewhere that I could play with.
