Excellent DoF and I love the rust:-) Is it a pencil sharpener? I have never seen this before, probably they weren't in use in Germany. We did have desks with inkwells, though;-)

In my long-ago high-school years there used to be one of these at the front of every classroom next to the box of ink for your fountain pen. I'm so old I was taught to write with a straight pen (but a plastic one, because we were modern).
