HelenaPF - 2025
Héléna-paule Fitoussi
HelenaPF
Our long time club member and daily ima board supporter as advisor, Héléna-paule Fitoussi, passed away without pain on July 23rd 2025. Below are words about her and her life, as well as some of her best loved and commented on images she shared with us here on ipernity.
[Original French - English translation below the French]
--------------

Ton nom
Mon Oasis
Mon Amour révélé
poem by Héléna-Paule
-----------------------
Helena grew up and studied in Algeria, from where she was brutally forced to emigrate with her family to France at the age of 26, at the height of the Algerian War of Independence.
A schoolteacher by profession, and in addition to choral singing where she excels, she has a passion for photography and then painting, where she developed a highly original and much noticed technique. Her relentless painting production, on the fringe of her job, led her to exhibit her work in a Bordeaux gallery in 2002. A number of her works could be admired in her ipernity gallery.
Unfortunately, her technique caused her to suffer from tennis elbow shortly afterwards, forcing her to give up her art for good.
Her daughter Fabienne, whom she often mentions in her ipernity gallery, an artist herself and also ipernity member, introduced her to digital art using specialized tools.
Helena adopted them relatively quickly, finding them a new means of expressing her talent and her mastery of shapes and colors.
Her enchanting, sensual works, always imbued with a deep sense of poetry, will delight us in her galleries, first Facebook, then ipernity from 2007 onwards, which means early in the life of our site. Works always accompanied by the generosity and great tenderness that characterize her, as well as her comments, and have made her such an endearing member of the community, loyal and always approachable.
On ipernity, everyone knows that she was an inveterate, passionate and uncompromising admin & moderator of countless groups on themes as diverse as poetry, painting, jazz and many other objects of photographic and pictorial art.
She was also keen to take part in the IMA adventure at the end of 2018, helping with daily photo moderation as well as anti-spam, in an attempt to replace our dear friend Pam Johnson who suffered a stroke.
She carried out these tasks, in collaboration with the IMA team, until illness prevented her from doing so, early July 2025.
She hasn't missed a single general meeting of the IMA (IGA) since its first instance in 2017.
We mourn a very dear and admirable friend, imbued with an overflowing passion and love that permeated her words, her actions and the whole of her art.
We look forward to hearing from you, who knew and loved her so much.
Your condolences will be conveyed to her daughter, Fabienne.

My life a Sahara of fire,
my soul carved on the wall
casting shadows, not many,
is asking to slake its thirst.
My throat and my dry lips
just barely dare to say
Your name,
My Oasis
revealed: My Love.

====================================
And Héléna's final posting on ipernity:
Ce frémir d'aimer qui n'a pas de mots...

Server load
This is the situation we are trying to deal with, high load from AI bot crawlers (left).
When that CPU utilization is under 20% the servers earn 'credit'. That credit can build to a maximum, and is used when the load is over 20%.
The high load causes the slow loading of pages, which may exceed a time setting to cause the 'Gateway' error message. But in the current extreme case, rather than coping with a short peak load, it is persistent. So all of the credit is eventually used, with the very likely display of the Gateway error, until you are lucky enough to get a page delivered.
The effect of taking the servers off-line for maintenance yesterday can be seen with the very low dip. Both in terms of the low load allowing the credit to build, and of throwing off the AI bots. Until they woke up again.
Our amateur skills are not sufficient for solving this problem and we are seeking outside help.
