This silvery, spooky, cobweb-like effect on the horizontal beech branches only happens when 1:1 light (sky completely & evenly covered) falls from right above on the shiny greyish beech skin; flat light with no side reflections from the clouds and accordingly no shadows almost. This 'shadowless' circumstances made me think of the supposed 'world of shadows' crowded with shadow-beings without a shadow.
