shame about the flooring; why would anyone in their right mind cover a chancel with any carpet, let alone one of such a colour? probably perfectly decent tiles underneath too. . . sigh. . .

excellent late c17 fireplace, brought from northern europe at a later date.the cast iron and tiles look arts and crafts work of the earliest c20. this is on the first floor, now a white desert of temporary exhibition spaces, all fire doors and health and safety notices. the main stair has had a stairlift fitted, though there is nothing to see up here apart from the odd fireplace that hasn;t been ripped out yet. give them time. . . what a waste of a house.
