the nave and aisles are by blore,dating from 1832-4,with little figures below the tie beams and head stops to the drip moulds. this church is still pre-archaeological gothic, mixing correct details of many periods into an improbable whole.
jingoistic memorial to those from stratford who took part in the boer war, including one who died. this must have seemed an almost bizarre affectation 20 years later.
the chancel was extended in 1884,the metal screen is very early c20. why must modern banners have no beauty or artistry,just polemic and propaganda ? some sort of evangelical triumph of the word over the icon ?
