south west porch prob. added when nicholson built the outer south aisle in 1932. the tower is basically c15. unusually for london, this church is open most of the time, despite the area being a bit rough. well done someone ! makes a nice change.

the old church expanded in width and aisles, though all arcades are post mediaeval now. the font bowl is early c13 purbeck marble, found buried.

this is the 1509 will and charitable bequests of thomas sanney who wished to be buried in the churchyard here, with chantry bequests for his family's souls. he leaves houses in finchley to pay for charity to the poor and for prayers "whilst the world shall last" and requires that this will, made whilst of sound mind and sick body, should be engraved on a stone for all to see. its on the north wall, and is fairly rare.
