this effigy appears to be that of a woman of the early c14, yet pevsner claims it as a late c13 priest, and the church guide as a priest of the mid c14. however, even were the head to prove a restoration, I'd say that the 4 angels surrounding her made it unlikely that she was a priest. stripping the thick whitewash would reveal all, but it might just leave a battered stone torso of course. the c18 drawings that exist look more female than male.
