the side walls of the north choir aisles all have blind arcades dating from anselm's time, these with axe work chip carved arches date from the very end of the c11. at some stage these have lost their original columns, and smaller, later ones from elsewhere complete with proto-waterleaf capitals have been fitted in place, looking rather odd
