wesley's chapel, city road, london

wesley's chapel, city road, london
scary facial hair and incredible smugness mark these late c19 churchmen.
w.f. moulton +1898 is by j.adams-acton, who did the poor statue of wesley outside; whilst under the the gothic canopies are busts by e. onslow ford of w.punshon +1881 and g.smith +1882, both of whom look truly unpleasant and overbearing men. what must they have thought of themselves to wish to be portrayed thus ?
