st. michael, highgate, london

st. michael, highgate, london
unimaginative bleak expanse of tarmac leading to this church, which is locked apart from a couple of hours on some thursdays, and some saturday mornings. it was a commissioners' church built in 1831-2 by lewis vulliamy with a nice pre-archaeological stock brick tower and spire well suited to this georgian hilltop enclave. just beyond the church lie the high victorian glories of highgate cemetery.
