engineer carved over window of the building now used as a sort of supreme court, a political attempt to at least seem to limit the powers of europe. ironically, the guildhall was middlesex county council's attempt to stem the spread of london's powers, and we know how well that worked. . . .

didn't think this would last long, middlesex guildhall is the only place in london that I know of with such sculpture over each window. they do indeed look like a job lot being used up around the back of the building; the next figure is an artist, then there's a blindfolded female holding a toc-h style lamp over the back door. all carved c.1913 in a sort of art nouveau gothic, the males by the italian sculptor carlo magnoni, the female by another less assured hand.
