st.john's college, cambridge

exterior of the somewhat egregious chapel built by scott between 1863-9. whilst being a fine enough victorian church, it seems alien in scale , shape, style and design for cambridge and may have been happier in oxford, chapels in cambridge fitting quietly into the corners of closed quads for the most part . scott's arrogance is most obvious in the apse, which sticks out like a sore thumb here, leaving an unfillable gap next to it in the quad.
