st.bartholomew the great, london

st.bartholomew the great, london
the north side of the c12 chancel has c16 brick buildings built into it, with the triforium gallery becoming part of a residence. the entire priory complex, like many others in london, was cannabalised to become factories and houses, forges and printing works. most of these excrescences were removed in the late c19, the last being a fringe works in the lady chapel , which was built out over the apsidal arcade of the chancel, being supported over the altar on iron posts until the owner was finally bought out.
