st.paul's cathedral, london

st.paul's cathedral, london
view onto roofs of south aisle and library, finished by wren by the end of the c17, with the west towers built 1706-8. the screen walls falsely suggest a less conventional interior than the elevations suggest; wren's cathedral is a gothic building in classical dress, right down to the flying buttresses that the screens hide. one of these is visible with a stepped profile here at the bottom of the photo.
