built 1739-53 by dance the elder, here in one side bay design [ which originally stood up one storey higher ] the palladian building goes a little baroque. the two bays which stood out as sort of towers were known as the mayor's nest and noah's ark. note the little blue police telephone box, pretty rare nowadays.
