tower c15, church 1520-32, tower top 1883 by c.clarke. gherkin in background. i have no problem with the gherkin; its the square flat glass boxes that are springing up all over the city that i hate; thoughtless arrogant ugly alienating inhuman banal stuff like those new ones around london wall or bishopsgate which have no redeeming features at all, or the sightless bleak monster on cheapside so near to st.paul's , those shiny shrines to the power of money totally out of scale with either the city or humanity.
