MV Isle of Cumbrae, Eilean Chumraigh in Gaelic, was built and launched in Troon in 1976. She initially took up service on the Largs to Cumbrae Slip route before moving around the west coast first to the Lochaline-Fishnish (Mull) route and then the Colintraive - Rhubodach route service before settling in and becoming the regular summer ferry on the Tarbert - Portavadie route. The statue of Sir William Mackinnon in Kinloch St, Campbeltown was never at Keil School, Southend as stated in the Buildings of Scotland’s ‘Stirling and Central Scotland’ (Gifford and Walker 2002). It went to Keil School, Dumbarton from Mombasa in Kenya, where it was first erected in 1900. It was removed from Treasury Gardens Mombasa on 19 February 1964 and re-erected at the school in Dumbarton on 5 May 1964. Quoted from the Canmore website.

Davaar Island or Island Davaar is located at the mouth of Campbeltown Loch off the east coast of Kintyre, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is a tidal island, linked to the mainland by a natural shingle causeway called the Dhorlin near Campbeltown at low tide. The crossing can be made in around 40 minutes. People have lived at the head of this loch since before the Bronze Age and what was once the tiny settlement of the 3rd century became Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain, "the head of the loch of the church of St Chiarain". This became Campbeltown when the 7th Earl of Argyll covenanted to found the Burgh. It became a Royal Burgh in 1700, celebrating its 300th anniversary with the millennium.
